Start with everyday scripts

Use short phrases such as "would you like tea?", "thank you", "whose turn?" and "one more cup". Children learn language inside a living context.

Practice turns and waiting

Pouring and serving create natural moments for children to wait, ask and respond to another person.

Add light counting

Count cups, spoons or pretend snacks. This brings early numbers into play without turning the activity into a formal worksheet.

Let the story grow

Once the child understands the basic script, let them decide who the guest is, what is on the menu and what happens next.
